Partners, Distributors and valued customers, welcome to the premier edition of the Citrix Service Provider Newsletter.  There is so much going on we decided to use multiple formats to keep you informed.  This newsletter is for you so make sure you give us feedback on those things most pressing to make your business a success.

It’s been just over a year since we launched the CSP program.  Can you believe it?  We have over eleven distributors in twenty countries and a partner base of over six hundred at last count.  Our LinkedIn forum is growing with over 700 members and stimulating discussion boards.  We have thousands of licenses in market now as the result of the success our partners are seeing specifically in the SMB space.

What we’ve heard consistently from you is you want Citrix to provide three things;  A TCO/ROI calculator that proves out the business model for Cloud Computing, an in depth architectural document for service provider best practices and an (outbound) sales tool to aid your sales team with the “hosted desktop” approach to service delivery.  Well, the TCO/ROI calculator is available in the CSP Toolkit along with a detailed tutorial.  The architecture document will be available at Summit Berlin and the (outbound) Sales Tool (Cloud Computing – What you need to know for your business) is available in webinar format.

Prescription For a Successful CSP Business

Most hosting providers in the space today are limited by their ability to offer only Microsoft Exchange.  If you want swallow a different pill to differentiate your offering and become a market leader, then you will need to focus on a bundle of applications delivered through the Citrix DaaS model.  Here is a proven prescription for building a strategy based on a hosted desktop model using Windows Server 2008 R2 and XenApp. Following these Doctors orders is sure to lead you on the path to becoming one of our most successful CSPs.

There are two basic Rx’s for producing a subscriber base of five thousand.  First is to develop a solid plan for sales and marketing.  According to research over 73% of SMBs have a need for your service but don’t know how to get it.  Focus, focus, focus on the market you want to go after.  Finance, Healthcare and Services are top on this list.  So you need to be proactive in your sales and marketing motion.

Once you’ve planned for and staffed your sales and marketing teams, go hard after your potential customers.  Because of this tremendous demand chasm for IT services, once you have a qualified lead, our research shows that you have better than 70% chance of closing them as a customer.

Remember that all of our core products, XenApp, XenDesktop, XenServer and NetScaler (VPX) are available under the CSP subscription pricing model.  So give this prescription a try and tell us if you like the side effects of a growing CSP business.
